Over 2.4 million passengers traveled in the first month of the year recording an increase of 8.9% compared to January 2023
Passenger traffic increased by 8.9% in the month of January for all airports in our country compared to the corresponding month of 2023.
According to the provisional statistics of the Civil Aviation Service, in January 2024 for all the airports of our country (Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport, 24 airports managed by CAA, 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece), it appears that the total of of moving passengers at Greek airports, (international and domestic passenger arrivals and departures), reached 2,406,801, compared to 2,209,593 passengers in January 2023, marking 8.9% compared to January 2023.
The first three airports with the largest increase in passenger traffic in January 2024 are the airport of Sitia “VINCENZOS KORNAROS”, the airport of Kozani “PHILIPPOS” and the airport of Paros. Sitia airport “VINCENTZOS KORNAROS” came first with a rate of +62.7%, as this year handled 2,250 passengers compared to 1,383 passengers in January 2023. Second in percentage increase in passenger traffic with +37.6% is Kozani airport “FILIPPOS” on which handled 293 passengers this year compared to 213 passengers last year. The third airport in the series is Paros with an increase of +32.3%, as this year it handled 7,721 passengers compared to 5,838 passengers in January 2023.
In terms of domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures in the same month (January), 22,764 flights were carried out, compared to 22,328 flights in 2023, with the air traffic index this year showing an increase of +2%, compared to 2023.
