In the Eurozone it remained stable at 2.4%
Eurozone annual inflation is expected to remain steady at 2.4% in April 2024, compared with March, according to Eurostat’s first estimate, released today.
Looking at the main components of inflation in the euro area, services are expected to have the highest annual rate in April (3.7%, compared to 4% in March). This is followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (2.8%, compared to 2.6% in March), non-energy industrial goods (0.9%, compared to 1.1% in March) and energy (-0, 6%, against -1.8% in March).
In Greece annual inflation is estimated to have decreased to 3.2% in April from 3.4% in March. In April, the highest level of inflation in the eurozone was recorded in Belgium (4.9%), Croatia (4.7%) and Spain and Austria (both 3.4%).
The lowest inflation levels in the eurozone are recorded by Lithuania (0.4%), Finland (0.6%) and Italy (1%). In Germany inflation rose slightly to 2.4% in April from 2.3% in March and in France inflation remained stable at 2.4% compared to March.
