Fashion lovers are eagerly awaiting the new six-episode drama series about the life of the late iconic German couturier, Karl Lagerfeld.
The series “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld,” due on Hulu in June, will chronicle the 38-year-old Lagerfeld’s rise through the Paris fashion scene in 1972, when designer Yves Saint Laurent dominated. Lagerfeld found himself at odds with Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé when he fell in love with Jacques de Basser. Bascher also had a relationship with Saint Laurent and the series focuses on rivalry, egos, parties, loves and tragedy in the world of fashion.
Karl Lagerfeld had a colossal impact on haute couture, from his appointment as the creative director of French fashion house Chanel in 1983 until his death in 2019. He was also the creative director of Fendi and had his own brand.
The creators of the series are Aisar Pisani-Ferri, Jennifer Have and Raphael Baquet, author of the biography of Karl Lagerfeld “Kaiser Karl: The Life of Karl Lagerfeld” on which “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld” is based.
Jerome Sall and Audrey Estrugo are its directors series.
Daniel Brühl, one of Germany’s most important, internationally recognized stars, will star in the series as Karl Lagerfeld along with Theodore Pellerin, Arnaud Valois and Alex Lutz, it was noted in APE.
French screenwriter, director and singer Agnes Zaoui plays Gabi Agyon who hired Lagerfeld as the creative director of Chloé, and American actor Paul Spera will appear as Andy Warhol.
The series, which premieres June 7 on Hulu, was filmed in France, Monaco and Italy.
