Three contracts were signed for “WiFi4GR
267 municipalities of the country will have free and fast internet access in outdoor and indoor public spaces, as the three executive contracts for the “WiFi4GR – Development of public wireless broadband access points in Internet».
In particular, within the framework of “WiFi4GR” the supply and installation of Access Points is foreseen in almost 2,500 points of public spaces, which have been indicated by the municipalities, such as, for example, places of public gathering, waiting-movement, events and points of touristic and cultural interest.
As noted, this is a project of the Ministry of Digital Governance that will contribute to the development of broadband in our country, which is implemented within the framework of the “Digital Transformation 2021-2027” program, with a total budget of 11,887,096.77 euros plus VAT and operator implementation of the Special Service of the PSM program.
In particular, the Ministry of Digital Governance signed the following three executive contracts:
* With OTE SA executive contract in the amount of 2,978,955.00 Euro plus VAT for the implementation of the project in 75 Municipalities of the Regions of Attica and Crete with installation and operational support Wi-Fi hotspots in 775 areas, it was pointed out in the RES EIA.
* With the Association of Companies “VODAFONE PANAFON A.E.T. – COSMOS COMPUTERS AEBE”, executive contract in the amount of 3,065,985.00 Euro plus VAT, for the implementation of the project in 100 Municipalities of the Regions of South Aegean, Peloponnese, Western Greece, Central Greece and Thessaly with the installation and support of WiFi hotspots in 781 areas.
* With NOVA M.A.E., an executive contract of 3,608,982.00 Euro plus VAT, for the implementation of the project in 92 Municipalities of the Regions of Western Macedonia, Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Epirus, North Aegean and Ionia Islands with the installation and support of WiFi hotspots in 922 areas.
As stated by the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, “the digital transition requires modern infrastructure throughout the country and for the benefit of all citizens. The government’s goal is for Greece to make a leap towards the era of broadband. At the Ministry of Digital Governance, we work systematically in this direction, utilizing all the available financial tools, such as the resources of the NSRF 21-27. “WiFi4GR” I believe is a project that can change the map of broadband in our cities and villages”.
