Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew condemns Damascus attack

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his condolences to the Patriarch of Antioch by telephone for the terrorist attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Prophet Elias in Dwel'a, Damascus, Syria.

Patriarch Bartholomew, who is visiting Great Britain, condemned the attack, stressing that such actions are directed against the peaceful coexistence of peoples and cultures.

The Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his wishes for the repose of the victims and a speedy recovery for the injured.

Bartholomew emphasized that every terrorist act against religious sites is directed against peace.
