The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has lost track of 409 kilograms of highly enriched uranium in Iran, an amount sufficient to construct 10 nuclear warheads, according to Bloomberg.

The loss was detected shortly after clashes between Israel and Iran. The uranium, stored in 16 cylinders, could be transported to a secret location.

IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi expressed hope that a ceasefire would allow the resumption of talks on Iran's nuclear program and the return of inspectors.

Iranian officials have criticized the IAEA, while the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament is considering a bill to suspend cooperation with the Agency until it guarantees the safety of the country's nuclear facilities.

Tehran's envoy to the IAEA, Reza Najafi, stated that the non-proliferation treaty suffered a blow due to the actions of Israel and the United States.

The fate of the stockpile of highly enriched uranium remains unknown.
