Rome: 80-Year-Old Drives Car Down Spanish Steps

An 80-year-old driver in Rome went viral after attempting to drive his car, a Mercedes, down the Spanish Steps last Tuesday. The incident caused surprise among onlookers.

The elderly man, a resident of the city, reportedly lost his way and became stuck halfway down the steps. A breathalyzer test confirmed he was sober. Police authorities did not receive an explanation for his actions.

The car was removed by crane, without causing damage to the historical monument. The incident is reminiscent of a similar event in May 2022, when a driver from Saudi Arabia was arrested for driving a Maserati SUV down the steps.

It is noted that at the same time, the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, which came into effect at 7 am, is in question. Tel Aviv denounced a violation of the ceasefire, while Iran denies the allegations.
