First Greek Satellite DUTHSat-2 Successfully Launched

The first Greek CubeSat satellite, DUTHSat-2, was successfully launched yesterday at 23:30 (local time in Greece) from Vandenberg Space Force Base in the USA. The launch was carried out by a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket as part of the Transporter-14 mission.
The 7-kilogram satellite was designed and built by a team from the Democritus University of Thrace in collaboration with Greek companies, with the support of the European Space Agency (ESA).
The Ministry of Digital Governance emphasized that the development of such projects enhances the extroversion of universities and creates opportunities for young scientists, contributing to the connection of research with society and the economy.
DUTHSat-2 traveled with the Falcon-9 rocket and was released into orbit at an altitude of 510 km. After being placed in orbit, its operational function will begin. Within 6 months, on-orbit verification of new experimental Earth observation arrangements and secure connectivity will be carried out.
