EFET Recalls Frozen Bluefish Due to Mercury Levels

EFET (Hellenic Food Authority) has announced the recall of frozen bluefish after it was found to contain mercury levels exceeding the permissible limit.
During inspections, the EFET Regional Directorate of Epirus sampled frozen bluefish with the following characteristics: GLAUKOS FETA KATAPSYGMENOS (FROZEN BLUEFISH), K.A. Atlantic Ocean FAO 34, country of origin Spain, freezing date 08-04-24, packaging date 02-10-24, expiration date 08-04-26, and batch number LOT 49930924, produced by GOGGAKIS A.E.V.E.
Laboratory tests revealed that the product contained a quantity of mercury higher than the permitted limit.
EFET has requested the immediate recall of the specific batch and urges consumers who have purchased the product not to consume it. Inspections are ongoing.
