€6,000 Fine for 32-Year-Old with Illegal Cigarettes in Larnaca

A 32-year-old woman paid an out-of-court fine of €6,000 after being found in possession of duty-free tobacco products during an inspection at Larnaca Airport on Saturday.
According to a statement from the Department of Customs, officials at Larnaca Airport inspected the luggage of the 32-year-old passenger, who was traveling to the United Kingdom, following an assessment of information.
During the inspection, 5 cartons of 200 cigarettes and 14 kilograms of rolling tobacco were found. The tobacco products did not bear the required health warnings in Greek and Turkish, indicating that they were duty-free.
The woman was arrested for immediate offenses but was released after accepting the proposal for an out-of-court settlement, paying the amount of €6,000.
