Paphos: 54-year-old victim of scam with fake extrajudicial fine

A 54-year-old man in the Paphos district reported being a victim of fraud, losing over €1,600, through a message about a supposed extrajudicial fine payment.

According to the Police, the 54-year-old reported to the Paphos TAE that he received a message regarding the payment of an extrajudicial fine on Sunday, June 22. He followed the electronic link contained in the message and proceeded to pay 30 euros.

He then discovered that an illegal payment of 1,605 euros had been made from his bank account to another account.

The 54-year-old realized he had been deceived and reported the incident to the authorities.
