Exhibition «Kafenes: Stories in Black and White Frames» at the Leventis Gallery

The Leventis Gallery hosts the temporary exhibition «Kafenes: Stories in Black and White Frames» until July 31, 2025. The opening took place on June 17, 2025, by Dr. Marina Solomidou-Ieronymidou, President of the Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO, and Mr. Anastasios P. Leventis, President of the «Anastasios G. Leventis» Foundation.
In collaboration with the Oral History Program «People of Cyprus», the exhibition highlights Cypriot culture, focusing on the traditional «Cypriot kafenes» (coffee shop). The photographs by Christos Michalaros and Iliana Koulafeiti document the tradition of the kafenes.
The exhibition includes the work «The World of Cyprus» by Adamantios Diamantis, with reference to the «Cypriot kafenes».
In addition, special tours and discussions will be held:
- June 25, 2025: «Coffee and the Kafenes: The culture of coffee and the semiology of the kafenes in Cyprus» with Anastasia Papadima.
- July 9 & 23, 2025: Tours with Christos Michalaros and Iliana Koulafeiti.
