Christodoulides calls for support for people with addictions

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, appealed for social support for those facing addiction problems, during a charity event of the Pancyprian Anti-Narcotics Association (PASYAA).
The event took place at the Presidential Palace Theatre, on the occasion of the World Day against Addictions. President Christodoulides stressed that addictions are a complex phenomenon that affects society as a whole and that it is everyone's duty to create an environment of prevention, support and acceptance.
The President referred to PASYAA's leading role in prevention, information and therapeutic intervention, stressing that the Association's work saves lives and supports families. He also referred to the joint program "TARGET" between PASYAA and the Nursing Services Department of the Ministry of Health, which he described as the only direct access and harm reduction program in Cyprus.
Nikos Christodoulides assured that the State supports the Pancyprian Anti-Narcotics Association and its efforts for a society without addictions and exclusions.
Finally, he congratulated the management, staff, volunteers and all the supporters of the Pancyprian Anti-Narcotics Association.
