Strovolos Municipal Sports Center Named "Glafkos Klerides"

The Strovolos Municipal Sports Center has been named "Glafkos Klerides" in memory of the late President of the Republic of Cyprus.

The naming ceremony was attended by the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, the Mayor of Strovolos, Stavros Stavrinidis, and other officials.

Mayor Stavrinidis stated that the decision to name the center "Glafkos Klerides" is a tribute to the President's contribution to the progress and prosperity of the country. Ms. Demetriou emphasized the importance of local government and the role of the sports center in social cohesion.

A greeting was read by Deputy Mayor Stella Sourmeli on behalf of Kaiti Kleridou, daughter of the late Glafkos Klerides, who expressed her gratitude for the honor.

The renovated sports center, located on Korytsas Street, features a modern track, padel and basketball courts, as well as futsal and tennis courts.

The event was attended by, among others, the president of the Cyprus Sports Organization, Yiannis Ioannou, representatives of the Church and the political scene, as well as many people.
