Stefanou: Irene Charalambidou will not participate in AKEL's ballot

The General Secretary of AKEL's C.C., Stefanos Stefanou, commented on the party's new political course after the congress, its relations with the government, and international developments in an interview on the show "Mesiemeri kai Kati."
Mr. Stefanou confirmed the successful completion of the congress and the election of the new Central Committee. He noted that AKEL's goal is to strengthen its political presence in society, focusing on six critical challenges.
Regarding electoral goals, he mentioned that discussions will begin after the summer, prioritizing strengthening the party's presence in Parliament. He confirmed that Irene Charalambidou will not participate in AKEL's ballots.
Stefanos Stefanou denounced the absence of a government representative at the congress, despite initial confirmation. He characterized the handling of the issue as a lack of respect for institutions.
Regarding international developments, he warned of the risk of a generalized conflict, referring to the tension between Iran, Israel, and the USA. He called for EU intervention for de-escalation and diplomatic resolution.
Finally, he stated that AKEL is in favor of peace and international law, condemning violations from any side.
