Proposal by "Alma – Citizens for Cyprus" for ATA Adjustment

The "Alma – Citizens for Cyprus" movement has submitted a proposal for the adjustment of the Automatic Cost of Living Allowance (ATA), ahead of the resumption of relevant dialogue.
The proposal aims at an agreement between employers and trade unions, which will ensure the purchasing power of employees, without jeopardizing the competitiveness of the economy.
The proposal includes the calculation of ATA in two parts: Part A, which concerns 66.7% of the annual increase in the Index, and Part B, which concerns the remaining 33.3%. Part B will be granted provided that the total wage increase does not exceed 80% of the average growth of the two previous quarters.
In addition, it is proposed to differentiate the ATA depending on the salary level, with Part B being limited for high earners in relation to a reference person with a salary between €3,000 and €4,000 per month.
The movement emphasizes the need to strengthen subsidy policies in times of recession and high inflation, as well as parallel measures to increase productivity and extend the ATA institution to the private sector.
