AKEL: New Composition of the Central Committee After the Congress

The Pancyprian Congress of AKEL has concluded, with Stefanos Stefanou renewing his mandate in the leadership. The party is now turning to the parliamentary elections, with pending issues remaining.
According to the results of the vote for the Central Committee, Giorgos Loukaidis received the most votes (751), followed by Stefanos Stefanou (744). Giorgos Koukoumas received 743 votes.
The top ten are completed by: Andreas Vyras (739), Andreas Kaukalias (736), Haris Karamanos (716), Nikos Kettirοs (712), Christina Christofia (702), Sotiroula Charalambous (698) and Aristos Damianou (698).
Other results include Christos Christofias (686) and Christos Christofidis (577). According to a party announcement, over 1/3 of the members are elected to the C.C. of AKEL for the first time.
The average age of the members of the Central Committee is 48 years, while the percentage of women is 23%. The 24th Congress approved the Political Decision of AKEL.
