Tennessee: First Woman to Be Executed in 200 Years

Krista Gail Pike, a death row inmate, is set to become the first woman to be executed in Tennessee, USA in 200 years. The execution is scheduled for September 30, 2026.
Pike, 50, was sentenced to death in 1996 for the torture and murder of her classmate, Colleen Slemmer, in 1995. Pike, then 20 years old, along with accomplices, tortured and killed Slemmer in an abandoned factory.
Death row inmates in Tennessee are typically executed by lethal injection, but the electric chair is also an option for crimes committed before January 1, 1999.
Tadadril Shipp and Shadolla Peterson were also involved in the case. Shipp was sentenced to life in prison, while Peterson received a suspended sentence.
