18-Year-Old Arrested Near Capitol in Washington with Loaded Rifle

An 18-year-old was arrested in Washington, D.C., near the Capitol, while carrying a loaded rifle. According to the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP), the individual was wearing a tactical vest and carrying multiple rounds of ammunition.
The 18-year-old was stopped on the west front of the Capitol. His Mercedes SUV was parked nearby, where a helmet and gas mask were also discovered.
Authorities clarified that there is no active threat and that the individual is not a resident of the area. The motive remains unknown.
