The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History has removed a label referencing Donald Trump's two impeachments. The temporary label had been added in 2021 to a long-standing exhibit titled 'The American Presidency: A Glorious Burden'.

A Smithsonian representative stated the removal occurred amidst a review of the museum's content. 'Because the other topics in this section had not been updated since 2008, it was decided to revert the impeachment display to its 2008 appearance'.

The exhibit 'The American Presidency: A Glorious Burden' first opened in 2000 and was updated in 2008. In 2021, a label was added discussing the impeachments of Presidents Trump, Andrew Johnson, and Bill Clinton.

Trump is the only U.S. president to have been impeached twice. Both impeachments resulted in acquittals following Senate trials.

The Smithsonian has been targeted by Trump, who signed an executive order concerning federally funded institutions.
