Severe Winter Storm in the US: Tens of Millions on Alert

Tens of millions of Americans are facing a severe winter storm bringing heavy snow and polar cold. Meteorologists warn of the worst 10 days of winter in the last 40 years.

14 US states and the District of Columbia have been declared in a state of emergency. The American meteorological services (NWS) warn of "heavy snowfall", "destructive ice accumulation" and "polar temperatures".

In Texas, many remember the 2021 storm, with widespread power outages. More than 150 million Americans have received recommendations for the bad weather.

Nearly 1,800 flights have been canceled, mainly to and from Dallas. Donald Trump commented ironically on climate change, via the Truth Social platform.
