UN: Trump's Racist Rhetoric Fuels Rights Abuses

A UN oversight body stated that U.S. President Donald Trump's "racist hate speech," combined with immigration crackdown operations, fuels serious human rights violations.
The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) expressed concerns about the increase in hate speech and the use of dehumanizing language against immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in the U.S.
CERD calls on Washington to conduct effective investigations into the violations and publicly condemn racial discrimination.
The committee is concerned about the "systematic use of racial profiling" by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other agents.
According to the report, at least 675,000 people have been deported since January 2025.
CERD denounces the "excessive use of force" during immigration control operations, with at least eight deaths since January.
The report follows a request from the ACLU regarding human rights violations in Minnesota.
CERD also denounces the increase in detainees in immigration detention centers, with inhumane conditions and inadequate medical care.
It is concerned about the repeal of guidelines that restricted immigration control operations near schools and hospitals.
CERD urges the U.S. to suspend these operations and review the legislative measures adopted since January.
