US offers $10 Million Reward for Ukrainian Hacker

The U.S. State Department is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the arrest of Ukrainian hacker, Volodymyr Viktorovych Tymoshchuk.
The 29-year-old Tymoshchuk is allegedly the leader of a group that carried out international ransomware attacks, using malware such as Nefilim, LockerGoga, and MegaCortex. These attacks caused millions of dollars in damages to companies in the US and Europe.
According to the indictment, from December 2018 to October 2021, Tymoshchuk and his associates encrypted computer networks and demanded ransom from hundreds of businesses and organizations. The FBI, Europol, and authorities in Germany, France, and Norway are cooperating in the investigations.
An additional reward of up to $1 million is also offered for information leading to the identification and prosecution of other key leaders associated with the malware.
