New York: Times Square Shooting Injures Three

Three people were injured in a shooting in Times Square, New York City, on Saturday. A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested and is being questioned by the city's police department (NYPD).

The incident occurred at 1:20 AM local time (8:20 AM Greek time) at the intersection of West 44th Street and 7th Avenue. According to the NYPD, the shooting stemmed from a “dispute between two individuals that escalated.”

Social media videos showed scenes of panic, with people running in all directions. The injured, an 18-year-old woman and two men aged 19 and 65, are hospitalized in stable condition. Police have recovered a firearm.

According to the New York City Police Chief, there have been 412 shooting incidents in the city in the first seven months of 2025, marking the tenth consecutive month of declining crime.
