New York: Gunman Kills 4 in Manhattan Skyscraper

Five people, including a police officer, were killed in a shooting at a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, New York. The suspect, 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura from Las Vegas, opened fire in the lobby and other floors of the building before committing suicide.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that four people succumbed to their injuries. Tamura, according to authorities, had a "documented history of mental health issues" and arrived in New York by car. Videos captured the perpetrator entering the building with an M4-type rifle.
The New York Police Department received calls from the 32nd and 33rd floors of the building. The slain officer was 36-year-old Didarul Islam, an immigrant from Bangladesh. Police Commissioner Jessica Tish stated that the situation was brought under control.
The incident took place outside the 345 Park Avenue building, which houses the headquarters of Blackstone and the NFL. The shooting is the 254th mass shooting in the US this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
