US Authorities Detain Mexicans in Florida Detention Center

US authorities are holding 30 Mexicans in an immigration detention center in Florida, known as the "Alcatraz with alligators." Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum stated they are seeking their repatriation.

Sheinbaum emphasized that consular assistance was offered to the Mexican nationals. A Mexican diplomat repeatedly visited the detention center.

Since returning to the White House in January, Donald Trump has made combating illegal immigration a top priority, causing tensions with Mexico.

The Human Rights Watch (HRW) published a report regarding "abuses" in immigration detention centers in Florida.

Trump ironically referred to the detained migrants, saying that if they escape, they would become prey to wild animals.

Over 350 Mexicans have been detained during raids by the federal police since January.
