US: Deportation Proceedings Against 5-Year-Old Boy?

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has confirmed it is proceeding with deportation proceedings against a 5-year-old boy from Ecuador, who was arrested in Minnesota. The department denied it plans to expedite the deportation of Liam Conejo Ramos.
Attorney Danielle Moliere called the department's decision "unusual," while department spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin stated that it is a normal procedure.
Liam and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, legally entered the U.S. as asylum seekers. They were held at an ICE facility in Dilley, Texas, until January 31, when a judge ordered their release.
The case of the 5-year-old has sparked reactions and drawn attention to ICE operations in Minnesota. Protests have been organized to protest the deployment of ICE.
