The FBI raided the home and electronic devices of Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson as part of an investigation into a leak of classified information. According to the US government, Natanson is involved in leaking 'critical information' from the Pentagon.

The FBI warrant is linked to an investigation into a Maryland system administrator accused of accessing and extracting classified information. Washington Post Executive Director Matt Murray expressed concern about the action, calling it 'deeply disturbing' and raising questions about freedom of the press.

Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the Department of Justice will repeat the seizure of journalists' phone records to identify leaks. She claimed that Natanson obtained 'classified and illegally leaked information' from a Pentagon contractor.

The Society of Professional Journalists and other press freedom advocacy groups have called on Congress to withdraw the subpoena for investigative journalist Seth Harp.
