Michigan Synagogue Attack: Assailant Dead, Relatives Victims of Israeli Bombing

A man, Ayman Mohammad Ghazali, 41, drove his car, filled with explosives, into the nursery of Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The attack occurred while 140 children were inside.
Synagogue guards reacted immediately, stopping the assailant. Ghazali was found dead inside his car, which was engulfed in flames. One guard was seriously injured and is hospitalized.
According to US media, Ghazali, who was of Lebanese descent, had lost a brother and three other relatives in recent Israeli bombings in Lebanon. The FBI is investigating the incident as a targeted attack against the Jewish community.
Ghazali obtained US citizenship in 2016. He had a child with his ex-wife, who filed for divorce in August 2024.
