Over 90 Migrants Dead in Yemen Boat Capsizing

More than 90 people have died after a boat carrying migrants capsized off the coast of Yemen on Sunday. The death toll is expected to rise, according to Yemeni officials and a spokesperson for the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The boat, mainly carrying Ethiopian migrants, sank as it sailed towards the Abyan province in southern Yemen, a popular destination for smugglers transporting migrants hoping to reach the wealthy Gulf monarchies.

The IOM reports that 157 people were on board the vessel. Yemeni security forces previously reported 76 deaths and 32 survivors.
