Tel Aviv: Life in Shelters – Evacuation and Empty Streets

Video footage captured evacuation scenes in Tel Aviv, as residents headed to shelters after sirens sounded. The evacuation took place within minutes, emptying the city streets.

According to protothema.gr, citizens received notifications on their mobile phones, warning of the imminent threat. Sirens were heard over 90 times in the wider area of central Israel.

The shelters have deep spaces below the surface of the earth and thick metal security doors. Citizens wait in the shelters in an organized manner until the danger passes.

Finding shelter has become part of everyday life for Israelis, but fear and anxiety remain.
