UN Declares Famine in Gaza, Israel Rejects Report

The United Nations has officially declared a famine in parts of Gaza. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) announced that famine has already hit the area and is likely to spread.
An estimated 514,000 Palestinians, almost a quarter of Gaza's population, are facing famine, with that number expected to rise to 650,000 by the end of September. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, stressed that causing starvation for military purposes constitutes a war crime and called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages.
Israel rejects the UN report, calling it biased and based on false claims by Hamas. The Israeli Foreign Ministry claims that over 100,000 trucks of food have entered Gaza since the start of the war.
