Kharg Island: Strategic Importance and Implications for Iran

Kharg Island, a key hub for Iran's oil exports, has been targeted by U.S. attacks, according to Donald Trump. Nevertheless, the island's infrastructure remained intact.
Tehran relies on the island for 96% of its oil exports. The Iranian news agency Fars reported that the raids did not damage the facilities.
Kharg hosts 55 crude oil storage tanks, with a capacity of over 34 million barrels. A VLCC supertanker recently completed loading 2 million barrels on the island.
The U.S. attacks mark an escalation of tension in the region. If the U.S. seizes Kharg, it will gain control over a critical hub for Iranian oil exports, limiting Tehran's influence on global energy markets.
Despite previous attacks, Kharg Island has demonstrated its resilience and ability to continue oil exports.
