Iranian Media Confirm Death of Ali Larijani

Iranian media have confirmed the death of Ali Larijani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. The Fars News Agency reported the news via a post on X.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Larijani was "killed" in a targeted strike, according to Israeli media reports.

Ali Larijani was born in 1958 in Najaf, Iraq. Coming from a wealthy family from Amol, he is considered a member of a powerful dynasty. He studied Mathematics and Western philosophy, earning a doctorate.

After the 1979 revolution, he joined the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and served as Minister of Culture and head of IRIB. In 2005, he became secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and in 2008 he became Speaker of Parliament for three terms, playing a role in the approval of the 2015 nuclear agreement. He returned to his position as secretary of the Security Council in August 2025.
