Share on:

Public funerals began in Iran for approximately 60 high-ranking officials and nuclear scientists killed in the war with Israel, according to state television.

The ceremonies are taking place on the fourth day of a fragile ceasefire, while Donald Trump threatens new strikes against the country.

State television broadcast images from Tehran, where crowds held Iranian flags and photographs of the victims.

The American president had stated that the US would launch new strikes against Iran if it continues its uranium enrichment program.

According to APE-MPE - AFP, the US bombed three nuclear facilities in Iran on June 21-22, supporting the Israeli attack on June 13.

Several senior officers and approximately 10 nuclear scientists were killed in the Israeli bombings.

Today "will be a historic day for Islamic Iran," said Mohsen Mahmoudi.

Iranian media broadcast images from the ceremonies, showing coffins draped in Iranian flags.

The funeral procession will proceed to Freedom Square, 11 kilometers away.
