Iran: Death of Ali Larijani Confirmed

The Fars news agency confirmed the death of Ali Larijani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, in a post on X. According to Israeli media, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Larijani was "killed" in a strike aimed at neutralizing him.

A post on Larijani's account stated: "Beloved and happy Iran! Muslim peoples and free people of the world: 'The servant of God, united with God.' A servant of God united with his Lord as a martyr."

Ali Larijani was born in 1958 in Najaf, Iraq. He studied Mathematics and Western Philosophy. After the 1979 revolution, he joined the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). He served as Minister of Culture and head of the state broadcaster IRIB. In 2005, he became secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and in 2008, he became Speaker of Parliament for three terms. He returned to his position as secretary of the security council in August 2025.
