Iran: Attacks on Ships in the Strait of Hormuz

Approximately 20 commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz have been attacked following a blockade by the Revolutionary Guards. According to data from the British agency UKMTO, the IMO, and Iranian authorities, at least ten tankers have been targeted as of March 11.
The Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for drone attacks on three tankers: Athe Nova, Prima, and Louis P. The attacks have disrupted traffic in the Strait.
A Thai-flagged commercial ship was targeted in an attack. The Thai Navy is conducting a rescue operation for three missing crew members.
The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) notes that some ships are linked to Western commercial interests. According to the IMO, at least six sailors and one port employee have lost their lives.
A general of the Revolutionary Guards threatened to set fire to ships crossing the Strait. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran has no intention of closing the Strait.
Donald Trump threatened military repercussions if Iran mined the Strait. The U.S. military announced the destruction of 16 Iranian mine-laying vessels.
