Iran: Reports of Explosions in Tehran, Khamenei Moved to Safety

Two strong explosions were reported in Tehran, with plumes of smoke rising from the city center and eastern districts, according to AFP. The Iranian agency FARS reported that the type of explosion suggests a missile attack.
Other Iranian media reported explosions in the eastern and western parts of Tehran, with a possible target being Mehrabad Airport. The TASNIM agency reported that Iranian airspace has been closed. Telecommunications issues and mobile network disruptions were also reported in areas of Tehran.
An Iranian official told Reuters that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is not in Tehran and has been moved to a safe location, as Israel reportedly launched a "preemptive attack" against Iran.
