The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) has launched an investigation into an alleged drone attack on a ship carrying Greta Thunberg and other members of the steering committee to Gaza. The incident occurred in Tunisian waters.

According to the GSF, the ship, flying a Portuguese flag, was attacked by a drone, causing fire damage to the main deck and storage area. The GSF condemned the attack and called for an investigation.

Tunisian authorities, however, dispute the drone attack account, stating that the explosion appears to have originated from inside the vessel. A spokesperson for the Tunisian National Guard said the investigation is ongoing and preliminary findings suggest the fire started in the life jackets.

The Global Sumud Flotilla consists of approximately 20 ships carrying activists from 44 countries, aiming to break the humanitarian aid blockade of the Gaza Strip. The flotilla is expected to reach Gaza later this month.

Following the incident, supporters gathered at the port of Sidi Bou Said in Tunisia, expressing solidarity with Palestine.
