The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Armed Forces has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the bombing of a hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip.

According to the Israeli army, the strike took place in the vicinity of the hospital. Eyewitnesses reported two strikes.

Palestinian health officials announced that at least 20 people were killed, including four international media workers: a Reuters cameraman, an Al Jazeera photojournalist, a journalist from the Associated Press and the Independent, and an NBC journalist. A rescue team member was also killed.

The Israel Defense Forces expressed regret for any harm to uninvolved individuals, stressing that they do not deliberately target journalists. They claim to act to minimize the impact on non-combatants while ensuring the safety of their soldiers.
