Gaza: 300,000 Students Resume Classes with UNRWA

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced the resumption of education in Gaza, following a two-year disruption due to the ongoing war.
Approximately 300,000 students will participate, with 10,000 attending classes in person and the remainder remotely. More than 8,000 teachers will be involved in the program.
Schools have been closed since October 7, 2023, with many converted into shelters for displaced persons or damaged by bombing. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Education, 17,711 students have been killed and 25,897 injured.
UNRWA warns that Israeli restrictions on humanitarian aid are jeopardizing the educational and humanitarian situation, especially with winter approaching. Essential items, such as shelter materials and medicines, are not allowed to enter Gaza.
Adnan Abu Hasna, UNRWA media advisor, stressed the need for urgent humanitarian assistance, as 95% of Gaza's population now depends on it.
