Chile: Far-Right José Antonio Kast Wins Presidential Election

Leftist candidate Jeannette Jara conceded defeat to far-right candidate José Antonio Kast in Chile's presidential election. With 57.4% of the votes counted, Kast secured 59.83% against Jara's 40.17%.
Ms. Jara called Mr. Kast to wish him success. Kast's victory marks the first time since the Pinochet dictatorship that a far-right politician has assumed the presidency of Chile.
