Trinidad and Tobago: Armed Forces on Alert Amid US-Venezuela Crisis

Trinidad and Tobago has placed its armed forces on high alert, ordering all military personnel to return to their posts. The mobilization comes amid the escalating crisis between the US and Venezuela.

The US has launched airstrikes against vessels allegedly trafficking drugs in the Caribbean and Pacific. Reports also suggest that Washington is considering ground operations in Venezuela.

Washington accuses the Venezuelan president of involvement in drug trafficking, which Nicolás Maduro denies. Caracas claims that Washington is using drug smuggling as a pretext for regime change and seizure of oil reserves.
