Trump to Participate in Israel-Lebanon Negotiations

Donald Trump will participate in a new round of talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington at the ambassador level. Beirut will request an extension of the ceasefire in effect since April 17.
The negotiations will now take place at the White House, where Trump will receive the representatives. Lebanon will request an extension of the ceasefire, including a halt to the destruction of homes and attacks on civilians.
President Joseph Aoun hopes to meet with Trump in Washington. The two countries met on April 14 in Washington, seeking to end the war that began on March 2 after Hezbollah's attacks.
The U.S. imposed a ten-day ceasefire, during which over 2,400 people were killed and over one million displaced. Marco Rubio, ambassadors Yehiel Leiter, Nada Hamadi Mouawad, and Michel Aïsha will also participate in the meeting. Lebanon will request a one-month extension of the ceasefire.
Simon Karam was appointed head of the Lebanese delegation. Gideon Saar stated that there are no serious disagreements with Lebanon, but Hezbollah is an obstacle.
