Trump: 'I will choose the next leader of Iran'

US President Donald Trump stated that he should participate in the selection of the next leader of Iran, as he did in Venezuela.
In an interview with Axios, he rejected Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Ali Khamenei, as an 'unacceptable' successor, although he acknowledged him as likely.
Trump stated that the appointment of Khamenei's son is unacceptable and wants someone who will bring harmony and peace to Iran.
Trump's comments come amid uncertainty surrounding the objectives of the US military campaign.
Israeli media report that Israel bombed a building in the city of Qom, which houses the religious body that chooses the leader of Iran.
Trump compared the succession process in Iran to his intervention in Venezuela, where Delcy Rodriguez took power.
On Wednesday, Trump praised Rodriguez for the progress with oil.
