At Least 24 Killed in Ukrainian Drone Strike on Kherson

At least 24 people, including one child, were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on Kherson, according to Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed governor of the region. The strike occurred during New Year's celebrations.
According to Saldo, the strike hit Horli, a seaside village near Crimea. Local pro-Russian media published photos of a severely damaged building, allegedly the target.
Russian state news agencies reported at least 24 deaths and 29 injuries, citing the local branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova blamed Western countries for Kyiv's actions, while Russian Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko condemned the attack.
Kherson is one of the four Ukrainian provinces annexed by Russia in 2022, a move condemned by Kyiv and most Western countries.
