Four Killed in New Fire Exchange on Tajikistan-Afghanistan Border

Tajikistan's security services announced that they killed "four terrorists" coming from Afghanistan, in an area where incidents have increased.
According to the Khovar news agency, the "four terrorists were neutralized" in the Khatlon region, after they "refused to surrender and offered armed resistance."
Since the end of November, at least five incidents have been recorded on the 1,350-kilometer border between the two countries. According to official data, a total of sixteen people have been killed, including border guards, Chinese workers, and "smugglers."
Following attacks against Chinese workers, Tajik authorities called on the Taliban to prevent the destabilization of the border, where drug traffickers and organizations such as Jamaat Ansarullah and the Islamic State of Khorasan operate.
Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon criticizes the Taliban and demands that they protect the rights of Tajiks in Afghanistan.
After the Taliban's return to power in 2021, Dushanbe chose cooperation in some areas, such as providing electricity to Kabul.
