Trump's Ultimatum to Iran: Threats and Rising Oil Prices

The clock is ticking for Iran as US President Donald Trump's ultimatum expires. Trump threatened strikes on the country's energy infrastructure if no agreement is reached.
In a press conference yesterday, Trump warned that Iran “can be neutralized overnight.” The armed forces of Iran responded to Trump's “arrogant rhetoric,” stressing that it has no “impact” on their operations.
US Secretary of Defense Pit Hegseth stated that strikes against Iran are continuing. Meanwhile, the UN Security Council is meeting to vote on a draft resolution submitted by Bahrain to protect commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
On the economic front, the price of US crude oil rose from $112 to approximately $114 after the start of Trump's press conference. The price of international Brent oil also increased.
