Taiwan: Relations with US 'Rock Solid' After Xi-Trump Call

The Taiwanese leader stated that relations with the United States remain strong following a phone call between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump. During the call, Xi warned Trump about arms sales to Taiwan.
Lai Ching-te, the President of Taiwan, emphasized that cooperation programs with the United States are continuing as normal and will not change. "Relations between Taiwan and the United States are rock solid," he stated.
Lai added that the US commitments to Taiwan remain unchanged and that there are excellent communication channels between the two sides.
According to Chinese media, Xi Jinping urged Donald Trump to exercise restraint in arms sales to Taiwan. Taiwan and mainland China separated politically in 1949, but Beijing still considers Taiwan its province.
Washington, although not officially recognizing Taiwan, remains the island's main supporter and supplier of military equipment.
