Thailand Accuses Cambodia of Ceasefire Violation

The Thai armed forces have accused Cambodia of violating the ceasefire that came into effect on December 27. According to a statement, Cambodia opened fire with mortars on the Chong Bok area, resulting in the injury of one soldier.
Phnom Penh has not yet reacted to the accusations. The ceasefire was intended to end three weeks of fighting, which resulted in 47 deaths and the displacement of millions of civilians.
Bangkok and Phnom Penh have pledged to cooperate on mine-clearing operations in the border areas. The two countries have been in dispute over their 800-kilometer border, which was demarcated during the French colonial period.
A previous round of hostilities in July claimed the lives of 43 people.
